Kenton girl’s tennis fell 2-3 to Ottawa Glandorf in a close Western Buckeye League match Thursday night. Kenton is now 3-4 in the WBL but the coaches for Kenton are optimistic about the rest of their WBL matches. “We have done much better in the WBL this year and know this would be a close match against OG. They are a good team and very similar to us, and the matches just didn’t fall our way tonight. First singles and doubles came out and played their games and dictated the points. First doubles really have come together to begin finding the open court and had great cross courts and lobs. Abby had some great down the line shots and Liz was able to hit great depth on her shots. We are looking forward to the last few weeks of season,” says coach Katie Isenbarger. First singles Mykaela Schriber won 6-3, 6-2 over Ottawa Glandorf’s Mariah Schroder. Second singles Addison Schmiedebusch of Ottawa Glandorf bested Kenton’s Kelsey Flowers 6-4, 6-0. Third singles Emma Schmiedebusch of Ottawa Glandorf topped Kenton’s Lily Osborn 6-1, 6-1. Kenton’s first doubles Abigail Hartshorn and Elizabeth Heintz defeated Chelsea Padroski and Lindsey Schneeg 6-1, 6-4. Second doubles from Ottawa Glandorf Alysha Verhoff and Kerri Ellerbrook won 6-1, 6-0 over Kenton’s Abigail Oberlitner and Kayce Sherman. Kenton travels to Elida Monday.
